ENERGO-PRO Colombia was established in 2019, it is headquartered in Medellín, and its main activities are identification and development of new hydropower projects in the country. Colombia is an attractive market with interesting opportunities in the hydropower sector. It has the sixth largest potential in this sector in the world, especially concerning the high-head power plants.

Currently, ENERGO - PRO builds its first hydropower plant on the American continent. It is the Chorreritas Hydropower Plant on the river San Andrés near the town of San Andrés de Cuerquia.

Chorreritas project underwent a Hydropower Sustainability (HS) Standard assessment in 2023, with a site visit from November 27th to December 1st. The HS Standard is a global certification system that sets performance requirements for hydropower projects, focusing on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects. Chorreritas HPP

History

The project of the HPP Chorreritas received all the necessary permits in 2022. The new hydropower plant is being built on the San Andrés River near the town of San Andrés de Cuerquia in the Department of Antioquia. It will be a run-of-the-river hydropower plant without a reservoir. The gradient will reach 186 meters. The hydropower plant of the 20 MW output and with two Francis turbines is expected to be put into operation in 2026.

ENERGO-PRO implements the construction in compliance to the environmental and social standards so that the impact of the entire work on nature and the local community is as favourable as possible.
