Alpaslan 2 HPP & dam

ENERGO-PRO acquired the project of Alpaslan 2 hydropower plant in 2017. The hydropower plant was commissioned in 2020 after the installation of the first Francis turbine. The construction was then successfully completed in 2021 and all 4 Francis turbines are now in operation. The installed capacity of the plant is 280 MW. Alpaslan 2 has thus become the largest hydropower plant in the Energo-Pro Group's portfolio and the largest Czech investment in hydropower since 1989.

The plant is equipped with two 110 MW turbines and two 30 MW turbines. From the perspective of optimising the power generation, this is an ideal layout which makes full use of the dam's potential and of minimum environmental flow. The runners of the large turbines have a diameter of 3,800 mm, those of the small turbines have the diameter of 1,960 mm. A technical highlight is that the large runners were manufactured as one large casting – a monoblock – and subsequently machined. This makes them the largest Francis turbine runners in Turkey made by this method.
