Engineers from the Czech city of Blansko and turbines manufactures from Slovenian Litostroj are cooperating together on the Koprinka hydro power plant in Bulgaria. It is a project that is being completely realized within the ENERGO-PRO group. The end customer is Energo-Pro Bulgaria, the hydraulic design is being processed by ČKD Blansko Engineering and Litostroj will manufacture the new turbine.
The contract between the above-mentioned companies was concluded in January this year. The small Koprinka hydropower plant is equipped with a vertical Kaplan turbine. The new runner will have 6 runner blades with a diameter of 2150 mm. After the reconstruction the maximum output will reach 9 MW.
Besides the new turbine (including the hydraulic design), the supply of a new DN300 valve, a new hydraulic, lubrication and cooling system, the bearings of the generator, the upper and the lower supporting structure and brakes (the spiral and discharge casing remains original) is also part of the modernization. The auxiliary operations and repairs will be carried out by local Bulgarian companies.
Dismantling works should start in September 2016, refitting in December 2016 and the final putting into operation is scheduled for mid-March 2017.
