Karakurt HPP & dam

The new dam and HPP Karakurt is operated by the company Bilsev Enerji Üretim VE Ticaret. It is located in the Aras River Basin. The HPP is fitted with three Francis turbines. The water surface of the dam covers an area of 14 km2 and the asphalt core dam reaches a height of 137 metres. Its construction took place between 2016 and 2020. It started operation in 2020.
